Small Town 4th of July Celebration!

There is something about an Independence Day celebration in a small Southern town that lifts your spirits and eases your mind back to a simpler day and time. Maybe it is the crowds that gather in the freshly cut fields to watch the fireworks display. Or, the vine ripened watermelons with big black seeds, and the kids chasing lightning bugs and playing catch while a cool breeze washes away the heat of the day. Or perhaps it is simply this: A community coming together, with blankets and picnic baskets, looking up in the same direction, as a glowing burst of light and tradition, lifts away the stresses of the day, if only for a brief moment. Wherever you are, I hope you can still see the lightning bugs. Happy 4th of July!
